Pop Up Ashrams
The word āśrama is derived from the Sanskrit root śram (śram), meaning “to toil” or
“to strive”. With the prefix ā it becomes a place of ‘less’ toil. Our student’s lives have
~ with everyone else’s ~ become busier. In this series of three-hour workshops
Swami Ambikananda will take you through 3-hour retreats you can create as teachers
for your students ~ the ‘Pop-up Ashram’ offering a break from a hectic schedule.
They will offer valuable information that can also be used in your everyday classes.

body/mind and cover all aspects of Yoga that help maintain ojas through the winter.
It will also look at the more subtle elements of maintaining ojas, like reminding us of
meaning and purpose through Yoga philosophy and meditation.

Discovering the Sacred in the Everyday
19th April 2026 / 10 am – 1pm / Calcot Hall, Reading
TYA Members: £30 / Non-members £35
In our busy lives, in which material acquisition is seen as the highest goal, we seldom
have time to think about the sacred in ourselves or the world. Religion seldom
comforts us now as it seeks to maintain its own power structures rather than a
pathway to meaning. Amidst this we have rising numbers of people suffering from
stress and depression. Taking time out to remind ourselves of the sacred aspects of
self and world, offering a new perspective of ourselves.
